About Our Leather & Makers
About Our Leather & Makers
The materials we rescue, the quality behind them, and the hands that make each piece.
Is HYER GOODS real leather?
Yes. Every leather piece is high quality, full-grain or top-grain Italian leather — never plastic-based "vegan" alternatives. We rescue real leather that already exists rather than creating new.
What is upcycled (deadstock) leather?
It's leftover leather from the world's top tanneries — the same hides the luxury houses order, then leave behind. Instead of letting it go to waste, we give it a second life. The same luxury quality, at a fraction of the environmental cost.
Where are HYER GOODS bags made?
All our leather goods, with the exception of our woven bags, are made in Italy — in a small, family-owned, woman-led workshop in Civitanova Marche, keeping our materials and makers close together to minimize waste and transport. Our woven bags are made in India.
Is upcycled leather lower quality?
Not at all. Because we start with deadstock from premium tanneries, it's the same grade the biggest luxury brands use — made in small batches with the care you'd expect at a far higher price.
What makes HYER GOODS sustainable?
We keep leftover luxury leathers in circulation instead of commissioning new hides, and produce in small batches to avoid overproduction — an approach that earned us a spot on Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies list (2026).
